The mountain bike team started its pre-season practices a few weeks ago. We had a record turnout with over 15 athletes showing up. The team is open to any students in the Kenosha and surrounding areas, boy or girl, grades 6th to 12th. Join anytime, there are no tryouts or benches, everyone rides! The NICA League finished the season last weekend and the overall standings have been published. CHS athlete Aaron Diaz finished 10th overall for the JV Boys out of 34 state riders. This is an excellent accomplishment for his first year riding. He was in the hunt with other athletes who have several seasons under their belt. Look for Aaron to be a top JV contender next year or possibly move up to the Varsity level.

The first NICA high school mountain bike race for the year took place at Minooka Park in Waukesha last week. This is the first year that Central High School has participated int the sport with a team. Aaron Diaz, a Central High School junior, finished 11th out of 25 riders. Central has another team member who could not race last week. The coach is Dave Bender.
