Biography:
Coach Dave Bender has a lifetime passion of mountain biking. He has over 20 years of racing experience. He started in beginner classes and worked his way to the top amateur level, taking 6th place at the National competition in 2013. Dave then competed for a year as a pro before putting his own racing ambitions aside and focusing on coaching and family life. Dave says: "I wish there was an organization like this team for mountain biking when I was younger. There is so much more to riding a bike and becoming better than just pedaling. It would have been nice to have guidance along the way. With the NICA program, I can help give that guidance and opportunities to kids that I never had."
