Despite a valiant effort by the Falcons, the Panthers were able to wear down the Falcons with a continuous full-court press. However, the Falcons were able to stick with the Panthers for half the game until some costly turnovers changed the result of the game quickly in favor of the Panthers. After the first quarter the Falcons were leading 8-6. By halftime the Panthers were able to secure the lead by a 21-17 margin. It was the third quarter that turned the tide in favor of the Panthers who outscored the Falcons  23-6 and won the game 58-33.
