Varsity's home opener resulted in a 3-0 victory with goals by Rudd, O'Neill, and Miller.  An aggressive run in the 26' from the back left Rudd unmarked and free in the Fort Atkinson defense.  A wall pass off of O'Neill was rocketed in the upper corner giving Rudd first blood on home soil.  The rest of the first half turned cagey as Fort Atkinson stepped up the attack.  After a couple of half time adjustments, we returned to the attack.  An aggressive piece of dribbling by O'Neill resulted in a PK being awarded in the 49'.  A coolly delivered shot found the back of the net, doubling the lead.  Miller finished the scoring in the 83' by receiving a lobbed ball delivered by Seybert behind the Fort Atkinson defense.  Miller beat the defense with speed and was able to beat the keeper one on one.

All in all a well rounded performance from the entire team.  Special notes, Penge (and the whole team) returns with a clean sheet.  And Rudd, told you you would get one.  I was especially pleased with how we were able to harass their entire midfield.  They were unable to build offense and the score line shows that we put in a dominant performance.  Every player executed their responsibilities well and that really allowed us to create threats while shutting down their attack.  Well done boys!
