Anthony Escarcega, Class of 1992
While attending Westosha Central, Anthony Escarcega participated in cross country, wrestling and track. Mr. Escarcega is still regarded as one of the best runners in Westosha Central school history. Mr. Escarcega was able to qualify for the WIAA State Meet in multiple years in both Cross Country and Track, finishing second at the WIAA State Track Meet in 1992.
“Tony was the most awarded high school athlete to come out of Central High School. Earning an unprecedented 12 varsity letters is a near impossible feat. Couple that with being a six time WIAA State Qualifier, clearly places him as one of the all-time elites. Tony held, at the time of his graduation, four school records from 800 meters up to the 5000, two of which still stand today, and one having just fall last spring. Tony had the treasured mix of tremendous athletic ability, intense desire to compete and a work ethic to make it all come together. I remember when Tony first enrolled, referring to a fellow coach that I felt I had a “Blue Chip”. Little did I know how great of a “Blue Chip” he would become”. Coach Keith Olsen
Following his graduation from CHS, Anthony attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison majoring in Mechanical Engineering. While at Wisconsin he ran both cross country and track. During his four-year collegiate career he lettered four times, was All-Big Ten and an All-American in the 5,000m (1997). Currently Mr. Escarcega resides in Seattle, Washington and is the Vice President at TSK America.
