Vince Zullo, Class of 1990
While attending Westosha Central High School, Vince Zullo participated in basketball, track and football. Mr. Zullo is considered by many in the area to be the best football player to ever attend CHS.
“I had the honor being one of Vince’s coaches. Vince was a three-sport explanation point! This was a player that during his junior season in football was asked to switch from fullback to guard. The team needed a tough player at the guard position and Vince fit the requirements. No complaints and he did it for the TEAM. This demonstrates Vince’s priory to the team and not himself. An attitude that today, many athletes and parents forget. His athleticism, dedication and physical toughness set the stage for his walk-on success with Coach Barry Alvarez and the Wisconsin Badgers. In my 45 years in football, Vince Zullo is the best player that I have had the pleasure, honor to coach, and spend my time with. Congratulations to Vince, his family and parents.” Coach Bob Edgington
Following his graduation from CHS, Vince attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he played collegiate football for legendary Coach Barry Alvarez. He was a four-year letter winner for the Badgers, earning a full scholarship during his second season. During his collegiate career, Vince Zullo was known as an outstanding player on special teams and was named the Special Teams Player of the Year in 1992 and was a five time Special Teams Player of the Week (1991-1995). The pinnacle of his collegiate football career was being a member of the winning 1994 Rose Bowl team. Vince was listed in the Top 10 of the best utility players during the Barry Alvarez era according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
