Darla Wack, Class of 1981

While attending Salem Central High School (Westosha Central), Darla Wack participated in volleyball, basketball and track. To this day she is one of Westosha Central’s best three sport athletes. Ms. Wack not only played in three sports, but she excelled in each of them. All of her accomplishments are even more amazing when you consider that she played sports just after Title IX was implemented.   

“I had the good fortune of watching Darla play basketball at Central High School and then playing with her on summer softball teams. Darla was an outstanding athlete. Her ability to drive baseline and go to the basket with that amazing quick first step was the reason she was First Team All-Conference. She out jumped every center in the conference even though she was several inches shorter and was probably a true point guard. Darla is a well-respected teacher and coach and is truly deserving of this honor”.   Coach Kris Allison

After graduating from CHS Darla Wack attended the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee where she played both volleyball and basketball collegiately. Her athletic accolades followed her to UW-Milwaukee where she was an All-American (1985) in volleyball and surpassed the 1,000 career points (1985) in girls basketball. Darla was inducted into the UW-Milwaukee Hall of Fame on February 2^nd, 2001. Ms. Wack currently teaches physical education in the South Milwaukee School District and is an assistant softball at Carroll University.
