Amy Gillmore, Class of 1990

While attending Westosha Central, Amy Gillmore participated in girls basketball and softball. During her high school career, she broke numerous individual records in both sports; however, as both sports have seen a significant increase in offense many of these records have fallen to more current players.

“It was my good fortune to coach Amy in both softball and basketball. She was the ultimate “gym rat”, spending all her high school days shooting hoops or sneaking into the batting cages for extra reps. When asked where she belonged, it was always study hall or we weren’t doing anything in class anyway. Amy loved practice, games, and talking about practice and games. I always knew she would end up teaching and coaching so she could share her passion for the game of softball. Congratulations Amy this is well deserved. Now if you could only coach somewhere warm so your mom could get out of her car to watch the games”.  Coach Kris Allison

After graduating from CHS Amy Gillmore played shortstop for Carthage College from 1992 to 1994, where she was a three-time All-CCIW selection. Ms. Gillmore earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise and Sport Science from Carthage. This spring will be Amy Gillmore’s 20th year serving as the head softball coach at Carthage College and during that time has a record of 434-289. Additionally, she has earned “CCIW Softball Coach of the Year” (1998) and the “NFCA Great Lake Regional Coach of the Year” (2013).
